The LSCB is a statutory organisation which became a legal requirement for all local authorities in April 2006. In making the LSCBs statutory bodies, awareness of the importance of child protection is placed high on everyone’s agenda.

The Department for Education's new Working Together to Safeguard Children (external link) is out in draft form for consultation - the closing date is 31 December 2017. Follow the link to complete the online survey form and scroll down for the documents. If you wish to be part of an HSCB response please email your comments to
